Senior Developer - Manchester

Date: 29-Jan-2021

Location: Manchester Airport, GB

Company: MAG

  • Senior Developer role – for MAGO, a unique globally focused business
  • Remote working option available!
  • Great work life balance, 25 days holiday, training and project work
  • Competitive salary, pension + parking + significant corporate benefits
  • If required, we will provide external AWS Certification training.

Let us introduce ourselves and tell you why we’re a great place to work:

The Company:

MAG is the country’s largest airport group. We own Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands Airports as well as having MAG USA, a large Airport Services business based in Chicago. MAG-O is our digital business, driven by data and created to take the Group on the next leg of its digital journey. Utilising advanced MI, digital platforms, and new and emerging technologies, this is a fast-moving, agile engine house of ideas and innovation. We are a globally focused business, and pride ourselves on being the number one airport-centric travel company; defining how airports increase their non-aero revenues and delivering our class leading e-commerce services to airport clients across the world.

We understand that these days your home is the office and output is more important than the office commute. We therefore aim to promote a true work life balance by offering remote working options for our Development Team.

The Role:

This role is directly aligned with MAGO’s driving ethos; to create build and deploy systems quickly in a truly agile fashion using quality data and feedback. Sat within our Distribution squad, you will be working collaboratively within your multi-discipline team with focus on our and businesses; supporting product and platform development. With a focus on customer experience excellence, we expect that you will make an immediate impact as you help us improve already market leading products and ultimately move us forward from Entity Framework to our MAGO .net core standard as we further integrate and develop our distribution businesses. We therefore offer a truly exciting challenge; to join a busines which is as ambitious and as innovative as you are!

We know that you’ve probably spent lock down working from home quite happily and productively, and we understand that (whilst we have amazing modern offices at Manchester Airport) the need to come into an office is, well, a bit old fashioned. Therefore, we also welcome candidates to apply who wish to work remotely with some office contact (around twice a month).

Our Dev teams follow agile principles and are looking for someone that is comfortable working that way: contributing to stand-ups & retros, with a collaborative mind-set.

Your experience in a fast paced, highly commercial environment with a high release rate would really suit this position. You will ideally have knowledge of Entity Framework or another ORM and ideally also have strong .NET Core knowledge.   We like serverless here and use AWS services like: Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo, EC2.  A robust API to support these channels is key, and experience with solution like GraphQL is going to be useful. Experience using AWS would be great, but it is certainly not required. what is important is a good commercial knowledge in using Cloud Platforms, be that Azure/ GCP etc. We will even support you to gain your AWS Certification.

What are we offering?

Our platform, working practices, technology stack, well... everything, is constantly evolving; We have re-defined our ways of working since the first Covid-19 lock down to reflect new working ‘norms’, and aim to continue being a flexibility and adaptable business. We're offering developers the ability to work with autonomy in a company that doesn't "do" agile, but rather "is" agile. Our role is to make Manchester Airport a global technology leader. We will pay a very competitive base salary + 11% company contribution pension + parking + a myriad of corporate benefits associated with a major global business.
