About the role;

 

We are looking for a people leader with proven team management eperience to join the us at East Midlands Airport. In this crucial role, you will provide effective supervision to the ‘on duty’ security team, operationally responsible for the safe, effective, efficient and compliant running of the security operation at East Midlands Airport Terminal, DHL and UPS over 24 hours.

 

You will need to have demonstrable experience of leading a large operational team to deliver on SLA's, be comfortable in a fast pace and high stress operational environment with a proven ability to communicate effectively with 3rd party companies and key stakeholders. 

 

 

Principal Accountabilities;

 

• The role is to lead and supervise Security colleagues on a daily basis.

• Accountable for lane performance to ensure compliance and efficiency in line with daily KPI’s whilst balancing throughput, customer service and compliance.

• Deliver a positive guest experience in a safe and compliant manner

• Display role model behaviour and ensure officers adhere to SOP’s, appearance standards and expected behaviours

• Carry out daily observations on all elements of service delivery, giving in the moment appropriate feedback

• Responsible for daily set up and closure of Central Search, general maintenance and testing of equipment and general good housekeeping

• Front line communication and primary escalation point for Security Officers.

• Plan to ensure that we meet service level agreements within all areas of responsibility whilst adhering to current legislation.

• Plan in advance for other Security Operations Leaders to ensure that resource deployment is planned before impact and that any operational issues are resolved to a satisfactory level once identified.

• Responsible for the personal development and performance management of security staff to deliver brilliance as standard for the EMA security team.

• Implement plans for improvement of security operations at EMA in collaboration with Airport Duty Manager.

• Carryout compliance audits (daily monitoring), including covert/overt test programmes.

• Carryout daily and weekly equipment testing as per compliant standards.

• Complete daily Tier two checks along with necessary paperwork submitted to Airport Duty Manager. Responsible for writing and amendments of all Visual Standard Operating Procedure for Security.

• Investigate and complete security breach report duly submitted to Airport Duty Manager.

• Carry out colleague welfare calls, colleague 1-2-1s and RTWs.

• Carry out any formal employee relations meetings in line with the HR Policies and Procedures

• Monitor and measure the KPIs of the operational security function; including queue times (agreed SLAs), the throughput of passengers and the standards of customer service offered by security colleagues.

• Audit and manage the appearance and functionality of security areas, to ensure they are tidy, well maintained and give a good impression, with the necessary equipment for operational efficiencies and compliance.

• Where any service level failure is identified ensure it is fully recorded and rectifications plans are put in place in conjunction with Terminal Operations Delivery Manager to ensure no repeat occurs.

• The role holder will be the secondary threat assessor for the Terminal.

 

Knowledge, Experience and Skills;

 

Technical Qualifications:

 

  • DfT level 2 accreditation - the successful post holder will need to pass a security threat assessors course
  • Must have the intermediate knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Will be required to undertake and hold and airside drivers permit

 

 

Experience:

 

  • Experience of leading a team in a legislated service delivery environment
  • Resource planning and performance monitoring experience
  • Experience in day to day operational delivery

 

Skills:

 

  • Proven Leadership and people management skills
  • Proven track record of leading a team 
  • Customer Service skills with a passion for service quality ‘beyond expectations’
  • Ability to relate to and work with other departments collaboratively to develop mutually acceptable solutions and efficiencies
  • Communication to instill pride, enthusiasm and attention to detail
  • Excellent resource allocation skills, able to anticipate problems and react quickly
  • Ability to analyse and use data to assist decision-making
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
