London Stansted Airport, part of the Manchester Airports Group (MAG), is seeking a driven and eager individual for a Motor Transport Technician Apprenticeship within our Airport Operations and Engineering team. This is an exceptional opportunity to learn the trade of heavy vehicle maintenance and repair from seasoned professionals while establishing a rewarding career in the aviation industry.
Contract Information:
- Initial 36-month Fixed term contract
- 40 Hours (Full Time)
- Permanent offer subject to meeting academic and professional standards
- Planned salary increases throughout the apprenticeship
About the Apprenticeship:
The Light/Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship will be delivered in partnership with Harlow College. They promote a work-based learning program designed to develop knowledge and technical competencies in the maintenance and repair of light and heavy vehicles, professional skills, and behaviours in engineering functions or wider business areas. The apprenticeship combines practical and classroom-based learning to provide you with the skills and knowledge required for a Motor Transport Technician.
About the Role:
As a Motor Transport Technician Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of experienced technicians and will be responsible for tasks such as:
- Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing faults in light/heavy vehicles
- Servicing and maintaining light/heavy vehicles to manufacturer's specifications
- Performing regular inspections and safety checks on heavy vehicles
- Staying up to date with the latest developments in light/heavy vehicle technology
- Diagnosing faults on EV vehicles
- Follow safety procedures and regulations when working on vehicles and in the workshop
- Communicate with colleagues and customers to ensure effective and efficient service

Minimum Requirements:
- Full UK Driving License
- No prior vehicle maintenance and repair experience required
- 8 GCSEs grades A*-C (including Maths, English and one Science)
- Must live in England and have the right to work in the UK (Government funding requirement)
