The Role:


A key delivery role in the Airport Services Category Team procuring goods and services for the whole MAG Group. 

Will work directly with internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure best value is delivered to the business via appropriate sourcing and contract management processes. 

Will support the Airport Services Category Team with the delivery of the tactical, strategic and performance objectives of the Category and will be responsible for specific sub-categories and Suppliers.

The role will be based at Stansted Airport with occasional travel to Manchester and East Midlands Airports.

This role offers hybrid working.


Typical duties include:


  • Conduct a full review of sub-categories in order to develop and implement an end to end strategy to deliver a step-change in efficiency and value.  Manage the sub-categories and resources in the team on an on-going basis. 


  • Responsibility (in conjunction with the Senior Buyer and Head of Procurement & Contracts) for the end to end sourcing process associated with the procurement of goods and services across the whole category.


  • Prepare RFP’s (request for proposal) and RFQ’s (request for quotation). Compile data relating to supplier responses, highlighting inconsistencies and differences, and presenting information to enable evaluation of responses. Carry out supplier evaluations and conduct negotiations for designated procurement exercises.  Prepare orders in accordance with procurement governance. Construct, negotiate, implement and manage supply and service level agreements/contracts that achieve cost, delivery, quality, innovation, zero harm and service targets as required by the business.


  • Work with suppliers and stakeholders to ensure the appropriate management and administration of third party contracts.  Develop effective and appropriate relationships with suppliers which promote a continuous performance improvement ethos.


  • Work across the Group to identify opportunities for supplier performance and cost improvements.


  • Support Procurement & Contracts Management generally and relevant stakeholder groups in identifying and implementing strategies that enable continuous improvement for the service being provided and which results in Procurement & Contracts being recognised as a high performing service function.


  • Contribute positively to the measurement of team success against financial performance targets (savings) via the implementation of category strategies and procurement activities (competitions, benchmarking, negotiation etc.)


  • Develop close working relationships with other key functions in the company and keep them aware of, and seek their views on, changes, initiatives and project progression


  • Develop an excellent understanding of the environment within which the Airport Services Category of supply operates and the risks and opportunities presented by the dynamics of those environments. Monitor/benchmark the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and meet with suppliers to understand their products skills and experience


  • Support the day to day transactional requirements of the Airport Services Category Team including reporting and administration. 




As an ideal candidate for this role, we would be looking for:

  • Knowledge of basic contract law and experience of contract formation and basic contract administration / management.
  • Knowledge and experience of tender processes and relevant OJEU regulations (Utilities Contract Regulations as amended 2016)
  • The role will require excellent analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, a measured approach to decision making and the ability to ensure best value procurement.
  • Experience of cost and price analysis with the associated analytical skills required to evaluate tender responses.
  • Demonstrable experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders and the necessary skills required to execute relationships successfully (excellent communication skills, influencing)
  • Experience of basic project management tools (Gantt charts, Flash reports, Risk Registers)
  • Office proficient with intermediate PowerPoint, Word and preferred advanced Excel skills.
  • MCIPS or an interest in studying towards MCIPS is advantageous
