The Role:

To control the effective and efficient allocation of aircraft to stands and coordinate the provision of all services to the airfield, so ensuring the most effective and safe utilisation of available stands and airfield facilities.



  • Allocate aircraft to appropriate stands according to scheduled arrival and departure times, making provision where necessary for unscheduled landings and delays thus ensuring the most efficient and safe utilisation of available stands and facilities such as the Engine Test Bay.
  • Via CHROMA FUSION, SMS Messaging and the Live Airfield Status Map, ensure that up to date accurate information on planned stand allocation, airfield events and the airport operational status are distributed to customers, business partners and MA Management.
  • Ensure the safe, efficient and cost-effective use of contact stands and bussed remote stands ensuring revenue income streams are maximised, service levels maintained and local safety procedures enforced.
  • Manage the often conflicting requirements of customers with regard to aircraft parking and stand allocation ensuring queries are dealt with courteously and professionally, therefore upholding the reputation of Airfield Operations.
  • Administer the database existing and systems, relating to the parking of aircraft e.g. Advanced Docking Guidance, in order that all aircraft are safely and accurately positioned.
  • Discharge responsibilities and duties in accordance with the Emergency Orders, therefore ensuring a prompt and efficient response by key post-holders and business partners to emergency events and accidents.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of procedures contained in the Airfield Operations Manual, and Airfield Temporary Operating Procedures, therefore ensuring duties are discharged in accordance with up to date safety procedures.
  • Compile, amend and distribute a weekly operations plan, to include stand allocation, airfield restrictions and forthcoming operational events, ensuring customers and business partners are supplied with up to date and accurate information with regard to stand allocation and airfield activity, thus allowing them to optimise their time and manpower and resources.
  • Assist with the training and mentorship of new colleagues where appropriate, ensuring that staff are capable of fully discharging their principal accountabilities in an efficient and safe manner.



  • A good understanding of the operational side of the airport and it’s associated environment and the safety requirements.
  • Detailed knowledge of aircraft types and the terminology used in the airport environment.
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure, with the ability to give clear and precise instructions.
  • The ability to prioritise and assign work.
  • Knowledge of airport and airfield operations.
  • Experience in an airport operations environment.
