The Role:

 

Reporting to the Crew Manager, you will be carrying out rescue and fire-fighting duties ensuring the effective use of equipment and resources available in dealing with aircraft or other emergency situations or incidents in order to preserve life, provide assistance on humanitarian grounds and minimize damage to property.

Duties will include:

  • Deal with emergency situations in accordance with laid down regulations and procedures
  • Undertake fire fighting duties as deemed necessary in order to save life and protect property.
  • Regularly communicate with and update the Sector or Incident Commander.
  • Efficiently mobilise resources required in responding to emergency incidents. (where applicable).
  • Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external bodies by applying the agreed policies, procedures and working practices when attending domestic or major Aircraft incidents
  • Provide feedback to the Crew Manager, Watch and/or Station Manager. Propose recommendations for improvement to ensure an effective and integrated response to emergency situations.
  • Maintain the required level of professional comptetence as specified by the regulator in accordance with CAP 699/ NOG in order to uphold the airport licence 
  • Maintain equipment for operational readiness to specified standards in order to meet internal and external audit requirements.
  • Promote and adopt safe working practices; ensure that PPE and operational kit is fit for purpose, that self, colleagues and customers are not put at risk, and that health safety and the environment are given the highest priority in order to protect the business.
  • Work and comply with all safety management systems introduced by the company.
  • Be responsible for personal and team compliance with Company Health and Safety Policies.
  • Comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role. Obtains, maintains the necessary vehicle licences and permits.
  • Participate in projects and working parties and to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit for the purpose of personal development, or as may be reasonably required by the Company.
  • Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the fire service management team including substituting within the fire service team when operationally required to do so.
  • All successful applications will then be applied to a Talent pool for 12 months, to support future recruitment.

Candidates who can demonstrate the following skills, attributes and experience are encouraged to apply:

 

Essential:

 

  • You must have professional Fire Fighting experience and current qualifications (Aviation / Local Authority / Military)
  • Valid Full UK Driving Licence
  • Meets CAA/MAG medical standards
  • Passes entry and subsequent fitness assessments (VO2 assessment)
  • First Aid at Work
  • DBS checks

 

Desirable Qualifications:

 

  • CAA RFFS certificate of Competence for Fire Fighter
  • LGV Licence
  • HRET Operations
  • Physical Training Instructor
  • Breathing Apparatus Instructor
  • Compartment Fire Behaviour Training Instructor
  • IQA
  • L3 Work based Assessor or equivalent
  • L3 Award In education and training or equivalent
  • IOSHH/NEBOSH
