The Team: As our successful Head of Architecture you will join our brilliant Tech Department. Within the technology function, we’re looking for great people to build, support and evolve our new platform. The Role:

This role will suit some who understands how aligning technology with business needs, along with exploring and implementing emerging technology trends and best practice, can help deliver rapid business growth results.

Strategic Planning: The successful candidate will have to create a strategic technical vision for the SAAS platform. This includes understanding the current industry trends and competitive landscape, identifying new technologies or architecture approaches, and creating a roadmap for the evolution of the platform's architecture.

Design and Development: The Head of Architecture will be responsible for overseeing the overall design and development of the SAAS platform's architecture. This means defining the right architectural patterns, establishing best practices, and creating guidelines for developers to follow.

Cloud Management: In this role, you will make critical decisions about which AWS services to use and how to configure them to deliver optimal performance. You will be tasked with managing costs, ensuring scalability to accommodate growth, and maintaining resilience to prevent and recover from outages. As the platform evolves, you will assess new AWS services and make strategic decisions about their implementation.

Security and Compliance: You will be responsible for making key decisions about the platform's security policies and practices, such as implementing secure coding practices and selecting the right security technologies. Moreover, you will ensure that our platform complies with relevant laws, regulations, and standards.

Problem-solving: In the event of technical problems or system failures, you will lead the effort to identify the root cause and implement a solution. Your role will require not just solving immediate issues but analyzing patterns and thinking strategically to avoid similar problems in the future.

Performance Monitoring: You will be responsible for continuously monitoring the system's performance, spotting issues before they become problems, and implementing necessary improvements. This includes setting up appropriate monitoring and logging systems, analyzing system performance data, and making necessary architecture or configuration changes to maintain stability and speed.

Disaster Recovery Planning: Responsible for creating and implementing strategies for backup, disaster recovery, and data loss prevention. You will need to ensure that the platform can recover quickly and smoothly in the event of a disaster, with minimal data loss.

Vendor Management: You will evaluate and manage relationships with third-party vendors, service providers, and consultants. This includes selecting vendors, negotiating contracts, and managing ongoing relationships to ensure that the organization receives high-quality services at a reasonable cost.

 

About You:

The successful candidate for this role will have the following skills:

· Extensive knowledge and experience with AWS Cloud services.

· Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.

· Expertise in serverless architectures and a serverless-first approach.

· Good understanding of SAAS platform design, development, and management.

· Proficiency in using Datadog for monitoring, tracing, and logging activities in a complex, cloud-based environment

· Experience with leading and managing technical teams.

· Industry experience in delivering customer facing solutions across mobile / web / ecommerce platforms ·

· Proficiency in implementing security best practices and regulatory compliance. · ·

· Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to a range of stakeholders

· Knowledge of performance monitoring and disaster recovery strategies.

· Proficient in vendor management.
