  • We are proud to be a diverse employer, and we welcome candidates from all backgrounds

About us:

MAG is the country’s largest airport group. We own Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands Airports, as well as our MAG USA business based out of Chicago. We are an ambitious business that is continuously developing and diversifying with a number of recent positive changes to help us to continue our success. Our airports are so much more than the place where your holiday starts! Behind the scenes thousands of MAG employees work tirelessly 24hrs a day, 7 days a week across numerous operational departments to ensure that our guests are given a truly world class service.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this is a senior strategic role. You will be providing leadership and direction on business continuity, contingency and operational resilience matters at Manchester Airport, commensurate with regulatory requirements, industry standards and MAG group policy.

The role is responsible for ensuring business continuity is fully integrated into all business and operational processes through the development of quality management systems and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. As the post-holder, you will be a trusted adviser to the Manchester Airport Leadership Team, ensuring key performance indicators and business reputation is preserved.

Working across airport operations, you will be utilising best practice principles for Contingency Planning, Business Continuity, Business Resilience and Crisis management.

Typical priorities include, but are not limited to:

  • Implement and assure ongoing compliance with the Group Business Resilience Policy at Manchester Airport, through the effective implementation of an accredited Business Resilience Management System.
  • Maintain a Business Continuity Risk Register, ensuring the Airport Leadership Team are fully appraised of existing and emerging risks.
  • Contribute to the development of operational and capital investment plans (OPEX and CAPEX)
  • Contribute to the development of asset and maintenance standards.
  • Provide guidance, direction and leadership on the development and management of Business Contingency and Recovery Plans, including training and competency requirements for all colleagues.
  • Develop assurance systems to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the Business Resilience Management Systems, using recognised testing and auditing techniques.
  • Ensure the integration and alignment of Business Resilience Plans for critical service partners and suppliers.
  • Manage the implementation, development and maintenance of an airport emergency management system.
  • Ensure lessons learned from disruption events and incidents are captured and acted upon, through an effective debriefing process.
  • Lead contingency planning teams and act as a trusted advisor to Operational Managers and the Airport Leadership Team.

Given the dynamic nature of airport operations, this is an exciting ever evolving role that would suit someone who is flexible, adaptable, willing to learn and (crucially) utilise the latest skills and methodologies. It is expected that you will have a proven background within a similar senior business resilience role.

Candidates with the following skills are encouraged to apply:

  • Relevant qualification e.g. Certification in Business Continuity equivalent to CBCI
  • Proven experience of developing effective Business Continuity Management Systems in a complex multi-functional business environment.
  • Experience of supporting and advising senior business leaders up to Managing Director/Chief Executive level.
  • Demonstrable experience of engaging and positively multi-functional teams and operational managers within a complex business environment
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and corrective / preventative action techniques
