MAG is the country’s largest airport group. We own Manchester, Stansted and East Midlands Airports, as well as our MAG USA business based out of Chicago. Our HR department is the heart and soul of the business; critical in driving organisational strategy and the support of over 5000 colleagues across the business within group support functions and airport operations.



Position Details:

With direct management of People Partners, Advisors and Assistants, this senior/ strategic role will mean partnering closely with our MD and working alongside the Airport Senior Leadership Team for Manchester to develop and deliver the Group People Strategy. This role will allow you to contribute to the development of the strategic direction of the business, providing local HR and ER advice and support to Line Managers. Maximising colleague engagement will also be a key focus, with a view to drive improved passenger experience and contribute to the delivery of the Manchester business plan.


Principal Accountabilities include (but are not limited to):


  • Being a proactive advocate of the Group wide People Strategy and instrumental in delivering strategic initiatives across the Group
  • Support the delivery of our exciting Manchester Transformation Project, with a focus on delivering both great customer service and colleague experience.
  • Contribute towards building a high-performance service culture.
  • Play a lead role in attracting and developing key talent and developing organisational capabilities
  • Act as coach and advisor to the Manchester SLT, developing team dynamics, identifying, influencing and resolving organisational issues and ensuring the people and organisational agenda lies at the heart of the business planning and commercial strategies and initiatives
  • Contribute to ensure constructive cooperation and sharing of resources and best practice between MAG’s three airports.
  • Support and assist the Chief People Officer to deliver the People Strategy
  • Drive change projects through the business ensuring they are delivered in the right way
  • Development of progressive proactive employee experience and engagement strategies ensuring the maintenance of a ‘Best in Class’ employee relations practice
  • Working closely with the Head of ER, ensure pay deals are successfully negotiated
  • Lead on recruitment, development and retention of talent across the Manchester business and contribute to longer term succession planning within the Group.



Candidates with experience in some or all of the following areas will be highly regarded:


  • Graduate calibre with relevant professional experience
  • Full CIPD accreditation
  • Successfully operated and contributed as a key member of a senior management leadership team and effectively coached members and developed team dynamics.
  • A change agent who will challenge the status quo, can lead teams, collaborate, build relationships and influence, curiosity to learn and grow, a Team Player
  • Clear in-depth experience gained in senior people management positions with a proven track record of successfully delivering strategically and operationally within a successful, dynamic, customer focused environment
  • Experience of leading change and operating in a unionised environment
  • Passionate about customer service
  • Resilience and tenacity in delivering within a fast-paced organisation
