The Role:


MAG’s RTR Finance and Accounting team are recruiting for a Senior Accountant. As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for leading a team of 4 Accountants and in turn, all Management Accounting activity for a Group Division ensuring that accurate, technically robust managements accounts are produced in a timely manner and in line with group finance service levels.


Typical duties include (but not limited to):


  • Leading one of the teams of up to 4 Accountants, including people management, 121s and personal development plans.
  • Managing the month end close process, ensuring that ledgers are closed to strict deadlines.
  • Ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all aspects of the divisional accounts, with all monthly reports produced in a timely and accurately manner.
  • Ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations are accurate and timely, including review and sign off.
  • Responsibility for the delivery of group service levels and supporting KPIs to internal and external customers.
  • Providing divisional accounts and supporting the Finance Directors and Finance Business Partners of the relevant division.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assisting the Head of the department in delivery of SLAs across Finance.
  • Interacting with transactional teams to aid continuous improvement.
  • Leading the team to achieve the agreed Group Finance charter.
  • Working towards and feeding into a continual improvement mindset within your team and the wider group finance team.
  • Developing the finance team and managing internal and external relationships.
  • Developing necessary policies and procedures to ensure sound financial management and control.




Ideally, you will be a fully qualified accountant with significant experience of working within a management accounting environment, demonstrable strong leadership skills and a proven track record of leading a team. Furthermore, you should have significant experience of working within a General Ledger function, at similar level.


You will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple priorities and to thrive under tight deadlines and high-pressure situations. Preferably, you’ll have experience of SAP or similar ERP systems, along with intermediate to advanced Excel skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage stakeholders and colleagues effectively to ensure processes are executed consistently and complied with. Experience of managing and leading change in a dynamic and fast paced environment is also beneficial.
