About the role:

 

As our business is growing, and our passenger numbers are increasing we are looking for experienced Operational Managers to join our busy Security Team at Manchester Airport.

 

In this role you will provide management of the on-duty Security Team, consisting of Security Team Managers and Aviation Security Officers, acting as the accountable and responsible person for the effective, efficient and compliant running of the security operation of the terminal.

 

Successful candidates will go through an extensive security training course; therefore, it is not essential to have specific security/aviation management experience.

 

The role of a Security Duty Manager is varied.  Duties will include but not limited to:

 

  • Ensuring that service level agreements and standards are met whilst meeting all regulatory and budgetary requirements.
  • Interpret resource plans and impact to the operation, maximising productivity and performance.
  • Monitor and measure the performance of the operational security function; including queue times, the throughput of passengers and the standards of customer service offered by security colleagues; measured through year-on-year improvements.
  • Responsible for the personal development and performance management of security staff to deliver brilliance as standard for the Security Team.
  • Design, develop and deliver plans for improvement of security operations in collaboration with the Terminal Duty Manager and other key stakeholders as appropriate.
  • To be the lead in any Security related incidents ensuring that the contingency plans put in place are delivered effectively ensuring that all stakeholders are communicated with during the incident.
  • Audit and manage the appearance and functionality of security areas, to ensure they are well maintained and give a good impression, with the necessary equipment for operational efficiencies and compliance.
  • Provide specific and timely feedback to security colleagues regarding all aspects of performance, in conjunction with the Security Team Managers.
  • Inspire commitment, motivation and improved performance by encouraging innovation, flexibility and a ‘why not?’ approach to different ways of doing things and by recognising ‘brilliant’ performance.

 

About you:

 

  • To be successful in this role, you will need to have proven experience of being accountable for leading and managing large teams in a service delivery environment
  • Experience of interpreting resource plans and maximising productivity and performance 
  • Have experience of working with other departments collaboratively in developing mutually acceptable solutions and efficiencies
  • Commercial awareness of the airport industry and understanding of its impact on operational requirements and developments
  • Perfect colour vision
  • Knowledge of relevant EU regulations (EC300), Single Consolidated Direction (SCD); NASP 2010 would be advantageous but is not essential
