MAG is embarking on the second phase of the Manchester Airport Transformation Programme (MAN-TP).  This will see MAG invest a further £0.5bn to revolutionise the customer experience in Terminal 2 over the next 2-3 years. 

 

The role:

 

MAN-TP comprises a number of differing work streams, all with their own set of challenges, covering demolition and refurbishment, MEP, baggage, new build, civil & structural, airfield works and fit-out.  This will provide successful candidates with a varied and challenging work load and significant opportunities for professional and personal development.

 

This role sits within the client team, where you will be able to play a leading role in the delivery of this fast paced and dynamic programme, engaging with stakeholders across the airport campus.  You will get the opportunity to work within an experienced team of project/programme management and construction professionals, collaborating with MAG’s consultants and contractors to achieve success. Other accountabilities will include:

 

  • On site supervision of all MAN-TP capital projects to ensure, safe, secure and quality delivery of construction activities.
  • Development of construction operation and logistics strategies for all capital projects.
  • Definition and monitoring of construction delivery elements of project CSR plans.
  • Develop delivery strategies to meet customer and stakeholder operational needs and constraints, protecting the business from operational and commercial disruption.
  • Support the MAN-TP Delivery/HSE, ensuring constructability, quality, delivery efficiency and logistics considerations are adequately considered at project gateway reviews.

 

You will also be accountable for HSE Specific Responsibilities Inc:

 

  • Quality of Pre-Construction Information completeness and content from Asset records for historic H&S File information.
  • Ensuring completeness of the Designers’ Risk Register and contribution to the Design Risk Meetings.
  • Review adequacy of the Construction Phase Plans.
  • Maintain register of F10s and monitor expiry dates.
  • Manage the Safe Start process for the site to ensure that the construction phase is fit to commence and fully compliant.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and report on MAG auditing control and systems.
  • Review H&S File Part 1 for completeness and accuracy; coordinate the PA3 Process with Assets stakeholders.

 

You:

 

As a Senior Construction Manager, you will be educated to a Degree or Post Graduate level (or equivalent) and have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of project delivery in complex, operational, safety regulated environment. You will have a professional affiliation (eg: RICS; APM; CIOB; RIBA, ICE or similar) and have experience of the construction, test and commission and handover phases of infrastructure projects across the full range of project size and complexity. You must have thorough, working knowledge of UK health, safety and environment legislation and its application to construction delivery, as well as working knowledge of NEC contract form and client/pm/ supervisor obligations under the various NEC models.
