The role:

 

As MAG IT’s Senior Information Analyst, you will be responsible for identifying business intelligence requirements by engaging with key stakeholders across the organization, ultimately expressing the requirements as report designs, data needs and analysis solutions that will be used across the group for all key decision making, from operational real-time reports, to key executive dashboards that will drive business direction.  Working closely with key stakeholders across the group and IT teams, the role turns data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to make sound business decisions.

 

Duties include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Provide detailed analysis that is accurate, congruent and reliable, and ensures the information is easily available to users for direct consumption or integration with other systems.
  • Builds an understanding of the business at a level of detail that enables them to identify and address critical issues as they arise – covering areas such as operation, asset and commercial.
  • Educate and train the business on the use of data as an analytical tool, displaying the information in new forms and content for the purpose of analysis and decision making.
  • Ensures the BI team has a clear view of the key stakeholders across the business and have regular sessions with these areas to ensure we understand their problems as well as potential opportunities for data growth.
  • Work with the BI team and Data Architect on highly complex, cross-functional solutions that will drive forward the Business Intelligence strategy across the group, ensuring the solution aligns to the BI Principles set by the Head of BI.
  • To provide subject matter expertise on key BI components.
  • Be one of the key leaders in in workstream planning process, including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of BI solutions.
  • Work within the wider scrum-teams to review other work and timelines to ensure the projects can be achieved in the timescales set out by the project(s).
  • Be part of the project management estimation process to ensure the estimates are accurate and indicative of the work required, challenge back if the requirements are unclear and drive forward those requirements that need defining for estimation purposes.
  • Conducts analyses of functional business processes and functional requirements and participates in the development of business cases in the support of process changes and/or IT projects.
  • Work with key stakeholders, researching business problems and creating the relevant models that will enable the business to make key decisions.

 

 

You!

 

You will be degree qualified and/ or equivalent experience within a relevant field. Equally, you will be commercially astute and have excellent written/ oral/ presentation skills directed towards senior level executives. A proven ability to establish and articulate a vision, set goals, develop and execute strategies is key, as well as the ability to complete projects and achieve results in an ambiguous work environment.

 

If you have a good combination of the following experience, please apply!:

 

  • Excellent understanding of Data Warehousing Design and star schema designs
  • Knowledge of Inmon and 3rd normal form designs
  • Solid understanding of Data Governance and how to implement it within projects
  • Proved experience using delivery methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
  • Can design complex low-level design documentation for Data, BI and Cloud solutions
  • Can interpret Conceptual and Logical designs into Physical Designs
  • Good understanding of cloud technology and how it fits into a modern BI architecture
  • An ability to interpret a Data Strategy roadmap into a set of deliverables
  • Understanding of how the business commercialises data & technology
  • Thorough understanding of data security, Protection etc
  • Excellent understanding of Data, BI & Analytics capabilities & technologies, including self-service data discovery, Smart data prep, enterprise led deployments
