The Role

Deputising for the Head of Airfield Operations you will provide day to day support and leadership of the Airfield Operations Department.  As an Airfield Operations Manager, you will be responsible for providing the operational framework and delivery of procedures, guidance, advice, and leadership for Airfield Operations, & for all colleagues and stakeholders within Airfield Operations. Whilst being a key person to aid the compliance of Ground Handling Licences and working with operational stakeholders to challenge performance and ensure all service level agreements are met. Key figure in building effective and influential relationships with our stakeholders and external parties including regulatory bodies. Your key responsibilities will include:

 

  • Reporting, analysing, and collating data that can be used to inform operational efficiency, either locally or strategically.
  • Identifying any income areas and look for initiatives to generate revenue and provide exceptional enhanced safety standards.
  • Support with the long-term training strategy that aligns with both the Airport Vision and regulatory bodies and identify any gaps to ensure compliance, training, safety, and engagement.
  • Undertake or mandate operational and safety risk assessments in support of the operational delivery of services by the Airfield team. These may include changes to procedures, equipment and infrastructure and seeing that journey through end to end.
  • Conduct internal audits in line with an agreed schedule to measure the effectiveness of the procedures and mitigations which are in place, and to provide robust and accurate feedback to all relevant managers on areas of non-compliance as well as opportunities for continuous improvement. 
  • Lead on and recommend improvements following on external, third-party audits to ensure compliance of all round Handling Licences has been met to a satisfactory standard & to provide robust and accurate feedback to the business and opportunities to the third-party operator for continuous improvement
  • Support in planning for major events and future development ensuring alignment with MAG vision and regulatory requirements such as Runway Closures.

 

You

  • Will have previous experience working in a high pressured fast paced environment with the ability to remain focused
  • Able to implement, monitor and ensure compliance with set M.A.G procedures, but capable and confident to challenge these where needed to improve service provision.
  • Experience in Airfield Operations and/or security, and knowledge of safety and/or security regulations pertinent to aerodromes, is desirable. 
  • Managing a large operation with both direct and indirect reports.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills to ensure stakeholders deliver outcomes that meet Airside regulatory and operational performance requirements.
  • Experience of leading projects and project management process.
  • Experience of prioritising workload to meet deadlines without close supervision. 
  • Full UK driving licence- Capable of obtaining an Airside Driving Permit, including medical requirements.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, CTC level security clearance.
