East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport (EMA) is two businesses in one: a modest low-cost passenger airport by day, but home to the UK’s largest dedicated air cargo operation at night.

Served by airlines Ryanair, Jet2, TUI, Aurigny and Easy Jet, its passenger operation caters well for travellers who want a quick and easy escape to popular domestic and overseas leisure destinations in mainland Europe, Eastern Europe and North East Africa.

In the last 12 months, the volume of goods handled at EMA has increased by almost 30% compared with the previous year, while December 2020 was the airport’s heaviest ever month on record.

The Role

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Assurance and Resilience team based at East Midlands Airport (EMA).  Working with both the Airfield and Security teams, as well as our service partners, you will carry out audits to test the effectiveness of procedures in place as well as compliance against current regulations.  You will also ensure that our risk registers, and the mitigations which are listed, are effective, providing assurance to our senior leadership team on areas of good practice as well as opportunities for improvement.  This role offers a great development opportunity to learn more about the Airfield and Security environment, as well as understanding more about the departments and functions in place at the airport.

Typical duties will include:

  • Implement, monitor and continuously develop an effective audit programme to ensure compliance with all relevant Airfield and Security regulations and associated MAG and EMA procedures and processes, as well as identifying areas for continuous improvement.
  • Conduct audits in line with an agreed schedule to measure the effectiveness of the procedures and mitigations which are in place, and to provide robust and accurate feedback to all relevant managers on areas of non-compliance as well as opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Produce detailed reports which highlight key information and trend from audits, and which highlight impact on current risks.
  • Maintain and develop the Compliance Monitoring Manual, ensuring this is updated on a regular basis and reflects both regulatory and internal requirements.
  • Ensure that EMA departments are adhering to existing regulations whilst adapting to changes in legislation/regulation through the development of a flexible audit programme.

  • Qualification/or equivalent experience, in audit programmes and techniques.
  • Understanding of risk management and its role in safety and security.
  • Experience of creating reports and conducting trend analysis.
  • Able to relate to and work with other departments and external parties to develop mutually acceptable solutions
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Must have, or be able to obtain, CTC level security clearance.
  • Must hold a full UK driving license.
  • Must be capable of obtaining an Airside Driving Permit, including all medical requirements.

What we offer

MAG offers a competitive salary plus pension, free parking whilst at work and benefits package. We are an employer of choice and can offer career and development opportunities in an exciting and dynamic business.

This is an exciting time to be working in the East Midlands and proposals to build a new economy centred around the region’s strengths in logistics, advanced manufacturing, and R & D are taking shape. In a further boost, a joint bid by MAG, neighbouring landowners, local authorities and LEPs for an East Midlands Freeport was recently given the green light by Government. Key to its success was EMA’s status as a gateway for global trade.  Once established, the Freeport will grow trade, create 60,000 jobs and attract investment across the region. Areas given Freeport status will benefit from a wide package of tax reliefs, simplified customs procedures, streamlined planning processes to boost redevelopment, and government support to promote regeneration and innovation.

Join EMA today, and you’ll not only play a major role in helping the airport recover from, and build upon, the impact of the pandemic, but you’ll also help shape thinking around the future direction of the East Midlands economy.

This role will close once we have received sufficient applications
