  • Airport Security Officer – East Midlands Airport
  • Part time, 21 hours per week permanent contract
  • £8.91 per hour rising to £10.62 upon successful completion of probation


About us:


We are seeking pro-active, customer focused and motivated individuals to join our Security Team at East Midlands Airport to commence training from June.

If this sounds like you, then a role in our East Midlands Airport Security Team could be waiting for you. Duties will include but are not limited to;


  • Checking staff ID cards and passenger boarding cards before entering the security area.
  • Hand searching of Passengers, Staff and Services Partners and their Hand luggage
  • Operating high-tech equipment such as x-rays and observing screens.
  • Patrolling all areas of the airport including the airport and on site operators
  • Providing excellent security and customer service to all users of the airport terminal, gatehouses and cargo operations  


About you:


No security experience is required as we pride ourselves in offering full training, but you do need to have previous experience of working in a customer focused environment. In addition, you should also;

  • Have a ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Have a passion for delivering first-class customer service.
  • Have a 5 year checkable history.
  • Have the ability to spend long periods of time standing, bending and walking.


Please note, for this role it is essential that all candidates:

  • Have been a resident of the UK for at least 3 years continuously.
  • Have perfect colour vision – established through pre-employment checks.
  • Must be over the age of 18.
  • Are able to work on a 24/7 roster and be fully flexible with regard to shift work


If you are successful in the role you will be made a conditional offer subject to pre-employment checks and successful completion of your training. Background checks will include, a criminal record check, five year referencing history, counter terrorism check and a pre-employment medical questionnaire.



The contract:


You will be consistently paid for 21 hours per week (payable monthly), however, in our busier months you may work an average of 30 hours per week, with a decrease in working hours in the winter months. Winter months are likely to see colleagues working 2-3 shifts every 8 days. This does not affect your salary which is paid consistently at 21 hours per week despite the hours you may work.


  • 4-12 hour shift lengths. Various day shifts with some night shift working.
  • £8.91 per hour rising to £10.62 upon successful completion of probation
