East Midlands Airport

East Midlands Airport (EMA) is two businesses in one: a modest low-cost passenger airport by day, but home to the UK’s largest dedicated air cargo operation at night.

Served by airlines Ryanair, Jet2, TUI, Aurigny and EasyJet, its passenger operation caters well for travellers who want a quick and easy escape to popular domestic and overseas leisure destinations in mainland Europe, Eastern Europe and Northeast Africa.

In the last 12 months, the volume of goods handled at EMA has increased by almost 30% compared with the previous year, while December 2020 was the airport’s heaviest ever month on record.

The Role

We are looking for an Airport Emergency Planner to join our established Operations team.  You will be responsible for developing, managing and maintaining the Aerodrome’s Emergency Plans to ensure compliance with regulations and deliver a safe and effective emergency response which includes all relevant stakeholders.  You will also be responsible for implementing an effective exercise programme which meets all relevant regulatory requirements.

Principal Accountabilities

  • The Airport’s Emergency Planning Manager will develop, manage and maintain the Aerodrome Emergency Plan and Security Contingency Manual to ensure compliance with regulations and deliver an effective emergency response including all stakeholders to include the Airport teams and local authorities.
  • Implement an effective exercise programme which meets all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that effective trend reports, and analysis systems are in place which provide the business with informative data to support current and future workstreams.
  • Support the Operations Director to integrate emergency planning into both the Airport and MAG Resilience Programmes.
  • Develop and maintain an audit programme for emergency planning at EMA which provides assurance to the business on preparedness.
  • Coordinate the airport’s emergency planning committees and ensure that risks are identified, mitigated, and escalated as relevant.  This includes arranging meetings, preparing, and circulating papers and taking minutes.
  • Attend external stakeholder meetings and provide input on behalf of the airport, such as the Local Resilience Forum and UKAEPG.

You!

What we offer

We are an employer of choice and can offer unparalleled career and development opportunities in an exciting and dynamic business.

This is an exciting time to be working in the East Midlands and proposals to build a new economy centred around the region’s strengths in logistics, advanced manufacturing, and R & D are taking shape. In a further boost, a joint bid by MAG, neighbouring landowners, local authorities and LEPs for an East Midlands Freeport was recently given the green light by Government. Key to its success was EMA’s status as a gateway for global trade.  Once established, the Freeport will grow trade, create 60,000 jobs and attract investment across the region. Areas given Freeport status will benefit from a wide package of tax reliefs, simplified customs procedures, streamlined planning processes to boost redevelopment, and government support to promote regeneration and innovation.

Join EMA today, and you’ll not only play a major role in helping the airport recover from, and build upon, the impact of the pandemic, but you’ll also help shape thinking around the future direction of the East Midlands economy.
