The Role
An Airport Firefighter career is unique, combining specialist skills, teamwork, and the responsibility of keeping millions of passengers and visitors safe each year. It’s a challenging yet rewarding role that offers the opportunity to be part of a highly skilled team.
As an operational firefighter, you will respond to emergencies in line with regulations and procedures, carrying out firefighting and rescue duties to protect lives, property, and the environment. You will ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies, promoting safe working practices to minimise risk to yourself, colleagues, customers, and airport staff.
You will build effective relationships with internal and external agencies, applying agreed policies and procedures during emergency incidents while maintaining professional competence to meet regulatory standards. The role also involves maintaining equipment and resources to ensure operational readiness and compliance with audit requirements.
In addition, you will support winter operations, including snow clearance and de-icing, as well as first aid, fire safety activities, hydrant testing, environmental protection, and post-incident recovery actions.

Requirements
- Must hold a clean, valid Full UK Driving Licence.
- Meet and maintain EMA medical standards.
- Must be able to pass recruit fitness test and job-related assessments, which includes tests for vertigo and claustrophobia.
- Undertake and pass DBS checks.
- Current qualification in First Aid at Work or Trauma Care is desirable.
- This position is open to all applicants however previous professional Fire Fighting experience is advantageous with current firefighting qualifications (Aviation / Local Authority / Military).
