The role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Head of Health and Safety and Fire at the East Midlands Airport
Responsibilities include :-
Driving the safety culture ensuring safety is at the heart of every decision

Championing the integration of health and safety into business processes
Engaging with stakeholders to deliver a safe, resilient and compliant airport environment
Ensuring compliance with UK and EU Health & Safety legislation and regulations
Maintaining adherence to UK Fire Safety Legislation including Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and relevant Building Regulations
Leading and implementation and continual improvement of the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System
Ensuring cost-effective delivery of compliance and safety initiatives in line with health and safety budgets
Providing leadership to team of direct reports as well as delivering support and guidance across the entire airport operation
Working at a strategic level ensuring directors and senior managers and to embed safety and fire compliance into business priorities.
Acting independently on all matters of health and safety.

What will make you successful in the role?

 Minimum of 3 years’ experience in health & safety at a senior level within a large organisation and a proven track record in the delivery of business           objectives and health & safety management systems

  • Hold a recognised health & safety qualification at diploma level such as NEBOSH diploma (Level 6) and be at least a Grad Member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), or other relevant institution.
  • Continual Professional Development in H&S should be demonstrated working towards IOSH Chartered Member or other relevant institution
  • Accident investigator training
  • Auditor training
  • Experience of being a key decision-maker
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and corrective / preventative action techniques
  • Computer literate
