East Midlands Airport (EMA), owned and operated by MAG (Manchester Airports Group) is the region’s gateway to mainland Europe, Eastern Europe and North Africa. Served by airlines Ryanair, Jet2, TUI, Easter Airways and Aurigny, the eight million people who live within an hour’s drive of the airport are well catered for in terms of leisure connectivity with a choice of more than 60 international and domestic destinations.

The Role:
Travel is never far from the news, with huge interest from a wide range of media outlets. This can generate a large volume of reactive enquiries, while also presenting opportunities to secure significant reach for the outgoing content we produce.
You will be tasked with driving a proactive media agenda that supports East Midlands Airports (EMA) operational and commercial objectives and promotes all other activities to enhance its reputation with all relevant audiences.
Managing the EMA press office, as part of a MAG-wide communications team, you will respond to all incoming media enquiries and secure the best coverage for all media work. In addition to this, you will be required to stay abreast of media trends and adapt EMA’s media strategy accordingly, contributing to the wider objectives of both EMA and the overall Chief of Staff function.
You:
We are looking for a good storyteller, who is skilled at crafting messages that take account of all issues and perfectly capture our goals and objectives. You will have experience of either managing a press office, working at a senior level within a PR agency or within the media, as well as experience of people management.
You will be a strategic leader, with experience of working in a matrix organisation model. Understanding how to balance competing demands, dealing with crisis communications and building, managing and maintaining multiple stakeholder relations.
