The Role



The purpose of this role is to safely and successfully deliver a portfolio of Engineering projects at East Midlands  Airport focusing on apron and taxiway improvements in particular. You will one of a selection of airfield experienced Senior Project Managers taking a lead on this work, delivering to agreed budget and timescales.


There is no direct line management responsibility in this role but you may be required to mentor other Project Managers/APMs.




  • Significantly experienced Project Manager with demonstrable experience of managing the full project lifecycle from explore, concept development, project implementation through to handover.
  • Airfield experience including runways and pavements is strongly preferred. However, candidates with experience in civil engineering works within a highly regulated industry will be considered
  • Engineering degree qualified or equivalent (such as apprenticeship training and qualifications, City & Guilds trades certifications)
  • Experience manging contracts under NEC will be an advantage
  • Chartered Status / Professional membership of CIOB, RICS or ICE or a Professional Project Management qualification (such as Prince 2, Association of Project Management Practitioners or degree) is a must
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills; able to engage, communicate with and influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and to effectively manage conflicting stakeholder demands.
  • Experienced managing 3rd party approvals (eg Planning, Property, Legal)
  • Proven commercial acumen – ability to build and present a credible CAPEX business case.
  • Experienced managing large budgets (of £500k up to £multi-million in value)
  • Comfortable working to tight timelines
