The role

 

 

To deliver front line services to Stakeholders and ensure a safe operating environment for aircraft, passengers and the airside community. The job holder is responsible for the delivery of services such as stand allocation and marshalling in conjunction with the maintenance of airside safety and environmental standards via airfield inspections, bird hazard management and incident control. 

 

The position is an autonomous role requiring the individual to work unsupervised during the period of their duties.  The individual will be expected to exercise sound judgement in dealing with varying requests and to maintain strict standards of safety. They will be required to recognise the boundaries in which they can safely operate as outlined in Airside Safety Management guidance documents. Appointment of this role is subject to the successful appropriate medical assessment.

 

 

•    Maintaining airside safety & standards in compliance to European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) regulations and Stansted Airport by-laws.
•    Undertake control room duties providing effective communication and co-ordination of the airside operation including the response to emergencies and contingencies as laid down in the emergency orders.
•    Meet customer needs through the allocation of all aircraft parking stands, ensuring that all associated aircraft movement data is recorded and collated on the systems provided.
•    Carry out surface and lighting inspections of the airfield and runway in accordance with Group Airside Operations best practice.
•    Undertake airfield and off airfield bird hazard control duties.
•    Provide escort duties and a marshalling service for stakeholders, conducting statutory runway braking action assessments in conjunction with the operation of all snow clearance equipment.
•    Ensure compliance with statutory legislation through the monitoring of airside maintenance and development works.
•    Ensure environmental compliance with Night Noise requirements including the control of Ground Noise and the monitoring of all aircraft engine runs.
•    Undertake initial incident investigation and input all information into airport databases.
•    Monitor third party airside performance via Turnaround, vehicle and personnel checks.

 

 

What will make you successful in the role?

 

 

The following skills and experience are desirable (unless stated as ‘essential’) for this role;

 

Applicants must hold a Full UK current driving License for this position (essential)
A working knowledge of the airside operations 
Strong concentration skills to remain focused during periods of high activity
Proficient in Radio Telephony communications with recent experience
Recent successful completion of an Airfield Operations Training Programme

Effective Communication skills (essential) 
Ability to work independently and a team as required
Proactive approach and the ability to work under pressure
