The role

Keeping our baggage systems moving reliably is a big part of keeping London Stansted Airport moving.

As an AUTOVER Technician, you’ll work within our Baggage & Security Engineering operation, carrying out planned, preventative, reactive and corrective maintenance on our AUTOVER and AUTOCa equipment.

You’ll help maximise system availability, respond to breakdowns and use your technical knowledge to keep this critical airport infrastructure operating effectively.

The AUTOVER and AUTOCa system sits at the heart of a £72 million project designed to support the airport’s capacity for up to 40 million passengers a year, so the work you do will make a real difference to our operation.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out reactive, preventative and corrective maintenance on AUTOCa carts.
  • Supporting AUTOCa recovery during breakdowns and helping minimise operational downtime.
  • Taking responsibility for the AUTOVER maintenance area, toolkits and specialist tools.
  • Cleaning and maintaining AUTOVER track, sensors and injection points.
  • Assessing component condition and helping plan maintenance around operational requirements.
  • Monitoring faults, compiling fault trends and estimating component mean time between failures.
  • Managing stock levels for items required to complete maintenance activity.
  • Working closely with other engineering and operational teams to maintain a safe, reliable baggage operation.

This is an operational environment covering seven days a week, so flexibility will be important.
