Permanent position

Salary Band 9 £27,311.40 rising to £30,241.58 after a 3 month successful probation period plus 17.5% shift allowance

40 hours per week 

10 week rolling roster pattern, 4 on/4 off (2 days/2 nights 06:00/18:00 and 18:00 - 06:00) 8 weeks of confirmed shifts 8 plus 2 weeks of flexible hours (we aasign your shifts during this time)

The role

 

Responsible for ensuring a high standard in terms of quality, security, and health and safety.

 

• Attend the various stations on the Baggage System to provide the overall departure baggage service.

• Interact with our Guests to ensure high quality bag delivery within the Arrivals baggage product.

• Act as Romeo 2, the first responder to Baggage flow incidents.

• Provide first line intervention on the various baggage systems to maintain overall flow.

• Follow direction from the Control Room Operator to act on disruption events, restoring flow in a safe and timely manner and reporting back status.

• Assist in contingency operations under the direction of the Baggage Delivery Manager and/or the Control Room Operator.

• Assist with the repatriation of baggage when required.

• Attend the Manual Encoding process for problem baggage.

• Support the Engineering team maintenance activities when and where required, buy moving spares and tools to the areas being maintained.

• Identify safety hazards and report them correctly for quick resolution.

• Provide bag realignment activities as instructed by the Baggage Delivery Manager and/or the Control Room Operator.

• Complete system inspections, looking for misplaced baggage in areas of concern.

• Follow the daily Operational Plan as directed by the Baggage Delivery Manager.

• Attend various training courses, both mandatory training and self-development.

 

What will make you successful in the role?

 

Desirable Knowledge, Experience and skills

 

• GCSEs or GNVQ Part 1 Foundation in English and Numeracy

• English Speaking and literacy

• Able to operate equipment successfully after training is complete.

• Knowledge of any relevant National or MAG (Manchester Airports Group) regulations or standards.

• Demonstrate delivery on safe performance.

• Able bodied and meets the MAG fitness standard for the role.

• To be knowledgeable about the facilities and layout of the airport to assist passengers and airport users with their queries.

• To demonstrate a flexible and helpful attitude, assisting in the smooth running of the airport.
