  • Starting salary £24,809.90 rising to £27,477.19 after 3 months– You will receive 17.5% shift allowance in addition to this.
  • 2 day shifts, 2 night shifts, 4 days off

About the role:


We are currently recruiting for Civils Maintenance Operatives to join Stansted Airport. The team will ensure that equipment and facilities on the airfield and the airport water systems operate effectively to enable the delivery of a high quality, reliable service to customers, tenants and other stakeholders. Duties will include:


Airfield Line Marking and Related Activities

  • Annual refresh of the airfield paint markings to the relevant standards
  • Day to day maintenance of the line marking equipment
  • Monitor and request painting supplies and consumables


Airport Drainage System and Water Monitoring Equipment

  • Inspect airport water monitoring equipment to determine status of system
  • Conduct maintenance activities on the water monitoring equipment to prevent failure
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults and operate assets as appropriate to ensure correct operation
  • Collection of water quality samples for analysis


Civils work

  • Surface repairs to runways and taxiways
  • Maintenance/ installing street furniture
  • Sweeper driving Landside and Airside
  • Inspections and recording of civil asset defects
  • Bitumen boiler


Other duties will include but not be limited to:

  • General civil / grounds work
  • Winter maintenance activities
  • Inspection of other water / sewage systems
  • Escorting of maintenance contractors
  • Other reasonable work directed by the civils Team Leader or External Engineering Manager



About you:


The successful candidate will have experience in working in a hands-on role. You will be confident IT user with strong verbal communication skills.

  • You need to hold a full UK driving licence
  • HGV Class 2 – desirable
  • Digger driving experience - desirable


If you are successful in the role you will be made a conditional offer subject to pre-employment checks. This will include a criminal record check, five year referencing history and an airside driving medical assessment.
