Permanent positions – employed directly by the airport operator MAG

Option 1 - Mobile cleaner - must have a full UK Driving Licence

35-hour week contract - Salary £27,466.64 plus 10% shift allowance

10 hours shifts 09:00 – 17:00 4 days on/4 days off

Option 2 – Cleaner

42 hour week contract Salary £27,466.64 plus 17.5% shift allowance

3 x Terminal cleaners 42 hours per week

DAY Roster (4 days on 4 off) 07:00- 19:00 - salary £27,466.64 plus a 10% shift allowance

DAY/NIGHT ROSTER (4 on 4 off ) shifts 07:30 – 19:30/19:30 - 07:30 salary £27, 466.64 plus 17.5% shift allowance

The role

 

We currently have opportunities to join our Soft Services Team in Stansted as a Cleaning Operative.  Cleaning Operatives are a critical part of the operation and key to our success.  The structure allows internal progression to Senior Cleaner and Supervisor roles.  In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the terminal is clean 24/7 365 days a year whilst Health and Safety Regulations are adhered to. 

 

  • To provide a clean Terminal 24/7 365 days a year to ensure our customers always receive and excellent customer experience
  • Ensure the successful day to day delivery of cleaning and waste away in the allocated area of responsibility
  • Provide the highest level of service within their area of responsibility in line with the agreed standards
  • Respond positively, politely and promptly to all customers and carry out duties in a professional and courteous manner
  • To ensure COSHH and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and any incidents are reported in line with procedures.
  • Be responsible for providing support to all areas within the Soft Services delivery such as (but not restricted to) roadside and airside litter picking, wasteaway functions, plant and engineering faciliteis and office cleaning
  • Ensure timely fault reporting of any asset failures
  • Be responsible for the smooth operation of relevant equipment reporting any maintenance issues in line with procedures.
  • Self-motived with the ability to identify and complete needed tasks without direct supervision
  • To present themselves on time and as per the rostered schedule and notify any absences via the approved MAG portal in a timely manner

 

 

What will make you successful in the role?

 

We are looking for team players with an enthusiastic approach, can-do attitude, and a working knowledge of cleaning chemicals and disposal methods. Ideally have previous cleaning experience gained in a similar commercial environment such as, hospitals, hotels, shopping centres, train stations etc. Other skills required include:

 

  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning such as using electronically powered scrubbing / polishing / vacuuming machines to scrub, polish, spray and clean floors (after receiving proper instruction and training)
  • Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage and disposal methods
  • Strong team player who works well with others and is proud to work for London Stansted Airport
  • Basic level of spoken English required to understand safety instructions and liaise with customers
  • Health and Safety awareness including responsibility for own PPE which will be provided
  • COSHH
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Emptying waste bins or similar receptacles, transporting waste material to designated collection points (up to an 1100 litre bin)
  • Dusting, damp wiping, washing or polishing the furniture, ledges, window sills and external surfaces of cupboards, radiators, shelves and fitments
  • Replenishing consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) when required
  • Cleaning toilets, urinals, hand basins and sinks
  • Undertake wall washing
  • Lift and escalator cleaning
  • Undertake priority cleaning such as spillages including bodily fluids
  • Wears the uniform as per the guidelines with pride
