Salary – (FS10)
Operational duty - £44,615 + 17.5% shift pay
Fully developed in role (2 years minimum in role) - £51,020 + 17.5% shift pay
During the initial training period with us (approx. 6 months), a training rate of pay - £41,845 + shift pay - will apply

Initial applications will be assessed against minimum role requirements and any other attributes candidates can offer. Successful candidates will be placed onto a hold list in order of performance. Once a position becomes vacant, contact will be made with the individual for an up-to-date physical/medical followed by a job offer.

The role
Reporting to the Crew Leader and Watch Manager, this role will carry out daily activities to maintain an effective Fire Service in order to save life and to protect property in line with company standards and licensing requirements.
• Deal with emergency situations in accordance with laid down regulations and procedures. Undertake fire fighting duties as deemed necessary to save life and protect property. Regularly communicate with and update the Sector or Incident Commander
• Maintain the required level of technical competencies as defined by Stansted Airport and as agreed by the regulator by attending courses, training and on the job assessments to uphold the airport licence
• Efficiently mobilise resources required in responding to emergency incidents
• Maintain effective working relationships with internal and external bodies by applying the agreed policies, procedures and working practices when attending domestic or major Aircraft incidents promoting a professional image of Stansted Airport. Provide feedback to the Crew Leader, Watch and/or Station Manager. Propose recommendations for improvement to ensure an effective and integrated response to emergency situations
• Maintain the required level of professional competence as specified by the regulator in accordance with CAP 699 to uphold the airport licence
• Maintain equipment for operational readiness to specified standards to meet internal and external audit requirements
• Promote and adopt safe working practices. To ensure that Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and operational kit is fit for purpose, that self, colleagues and customers are not put at risk, and that health safety and the environment are given the highest priority in order to protect the business. Work and comply with all safety management systems introduced by the company
• Be responsible for personal and team compliance with Company Health and Safety Policies, ensuring safe working practices to minimise risk to self, work colleagues, customers and staff is minimised
• Comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to this role
• Participate in projects and working parties and to carry out any other duties that may be outside the standard remit for personal development, or as may be reasonably required by the Company
• Carry out any other duties as reasonably requested by the fire service management team including substituting within the fire service team when operationally required to do so
What will make you successful in the role?
Minimum requirements
For this role, the successful candidate must have a valid full UK Driving Licence, be able to meet the required medical standard and pass entry tests, and subsequent fitness assessments. Hold a current Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Fire Service (RFFS) certificate of competence for a Fire Fighter. Minimum 3 years’ service as an Aviation Firefighter.
Desirable qualifications
A First Aid at Work and Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Licence are advantageous for this role. The successful candidate must be able to achieve an LGV licence and First Aid at Work qualification.
