  • Salary starting at £20,748, rising to £21,428.76 after three months + 17.5% shift allowance

We currently have opportunities to join our Soft Services Team in London Stansted Airport as a Senior Cleaning Operative.  This role is a critical part of the operation and key to our success.  The structure allows internal progression within the Soft Services Department.
 

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the terminal is clean 24/7 365 days a year whilst Health and Safety Regulations are adhered to.  You will need to be self-motivated with the ability to identify and complete tasks without direct supervision.  As a Senior Cleaning Operative, you will be able to deputise for the Cleaning Co-ordinator during the times of absence or when the operation requires it and support them with cascading information to team members as required.
 

The successful candidate will need to be a strong team member who works well with others and is proud to work for London Stansted Airport. You will need an excellent attention to detail and have a strong technical understanding to be able to guide team members.
 

Principal Accountabilities:
 

  • To provide a clean Terminal 24/7 365 days a year to ensure our customers always receive an excellent customer experience
  • Ensure the successful day to day delivery of cleaning and waste away in the allocated area of responsibility.
  • Provide the highest level of service within their area of responsibility in line with the agreed standards.
  • Respond positively, politely, and promptly to all customers and carry out duties in a professional and courteous manner.
  • To ensure COSHH and Health & Safety regulations are adhered to, and any incidents are reported in line with procedures.
  • Be responsible for providing support to all areas within the Soft Services delivery such as (but not restricted to) roadside and airside litter picking, waste away functions, plant and engineering facilities and office cleaning.
  • Ensure timely fault reporting of any asset failures and health and safety occurrences.
  • Be responsible for the smooth operation of relevant equipment reporting any maintenance issues in line with procedures.
  • To present themselves on time and as per the rostered schedule and notify any absences via the approved MAG portal in a timely manner
  • To assist with additional duties including but not limited to preparation of daily consumables, equipment, and laundry tasks.
  • To provide technical guidance to team members on cleaning methods, safe use of machinery and assist with the maintenance of professional standards.

 

Knowledge, Experience and Skills
 

  • Ability to handle heavy equipment and machinery used in cleaning (after receiving full training)
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, proper storage, and disposal methods 
  • Basic level of spoken English required to understand safety instructions and liaise with customers
  • Health and Safety awareness including responsibility for own PPE which will be provided (COSHH)
  • Experience in providing cleaning services
  • Ability to undertake priority cleaning such as spillages including bodily fluids
  • Ability to complete all allocated cleaning tasks as required.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance to team members on cleaning methods, safe use of machinery and assist with the maintenance of professional standards.
