The Role

You will play a key role in ensuring the data used to base critical resourcing, business change and commercial decisions on is accurate and presented in a relevant and engaging way. Your key accountabilities will be:

  • Analyse data from multiple sources to provide timely, meaningful and actionable insights to departments, identifying problem and root cause and, working with CI managers, the suitability and impact of potential solutions.

  • Work collaboratively with DASA to drive the transition to data and reporting automation and the adoption of Power BI for data and reporting visualisation. 

  • Develop and maintain a broad set of analytical tools and techniques, fully utilising the capabilities of Power BI to provide timely and accurate analysis to support decision making, to support stakeholders in achieving business objectives and optimise ways of working.

  • Lead and develop departmental comms cell processes, including production and visualisation of data and the delivery of analysis results and insights, trending and creating an environment where data and insights lead to real performance improvements.

  • Verify, test and validate the accuracy, consistency, and quality of digital and manual reports during the transition to full automation.

  • Provide technical support and expertise to the Performance Analysts as required on processing and presentation of manual data sets during the transition to reporting automation. 

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and streamline data sets and address gaps in data generation.  Developing new data streams and analysis where new technology is implemented or as required to inform performance management.

  • Lead in-depth and bespoke analysis of specific operational performance, data and system related issues and trends working with performance managers and the Continual Improvement Team as required.

 

What Will Make You Successful in the Role?

In order to succeed in this position, you will possess:

  • A passion for data and the power of data within a transformation business

  • Experience in fast paced rapidly changing industry

  • Able to adapt to change, where data is at the core of the business strategic growth

  • Strong numeric and statistical skills with analytical problem-solving experience.

  • Excellent knowledge of SQL required with Excel, VBA, or similar (e.g., Python, R or other programming experience)

  • Experience with visualization tools including: PowerBI or equivalent.

  • Ownership of transformational data roadmaps

  • Exposure to analysing large data volumes using modern cloud data environment such as Redshift and AWS

  • Ability to build strong relationships with IT and business teams to gain an in-depth knowledge of business priorities, and to understand the new data sources.

  • The ability to interpret and transform data into insights which can be presented/communicated to senior stakeholders across the business.

  • Commercial acumen and the ability to present arguments and make recommendations based on evidence and data.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills across all levels.

  • Ability to tell a story through the data, to articulate analysis for a non-technical audience with clarity and in an engaging way.

  • Understanding of the contemporary data and analytics landscape, the current tools, the pertinent approaches and the likely challenges.

  • Enthusiasm for the role, and a willingness to share knowledge and best practices across the wider data team across the Group.

  • Ability to work independently on highly complex unknown work to discover work requirements and the ability to access risk and implement plans to mitigate that risk.
