Business & Systems Analyst

As a business & systems analyst in our MAG IT team, you’ll be charged with helping us to transform our business through technology, digital and automation. Working across our airports and group functions, the primary role of the business & systems analyst is to gather and shape requirements from a wide range of business stakeholders. You’ll be our interface to the business, and will work on projects that will help us to build back from the COVID-19 pandemic in a smarter way. 

You’ll be helping to solve problems for our business by identifying process, data, technology and people requirements to digitize our passenger journey, improve aircraft turnaround times, optimize colleague experiences and drive efficiencies across our group. 

The business analyst role also works closely with solution architects, product and project managers to deliver outcomes end to end, whether that be system, process or data changes.



•    Working with the Business and across MAG IT to identify and shape technology change, ensuring alignment to Business need, and IT and Group Strategy
•    Support Business areas in documenting Business Cases to demonstrate benefits, risks and financial appraisal to support robust investment decisions and recommendations for business change
•    Elicit underlying business issues and requirements that need to be addressed, discovering and capturing any information relevant to the change; understanding and mapping as-is and to-be desired states and processes
•    Analyse requirements; organizing, specifying and modeling to ensure requirements are complete and unambiguous
•    Understand how the business requirements translate into technical and data requirements – and be able to translate between the two
•    Specifying requirements, ensuring that documentation is in a layout and format that can be easily shared with and understood by stakeholders
•    Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, influencing and negotiating with stakeholders to reconcile conflicts and to ensure a consistent and cohesive approach is agreed
•    Take a holistic approach to investigating operational business systems ensuring all opportunities for business improvement are uncovered. This includes considering aspects relating to people, processes, organisational context, data and technology
•    Collaborate with business stakeholders, 3rd parties and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and solutions, analyzing trade-offs between usability, performance, resilience and affordability; making recommendations where required
•    Act as the liaison between the Business, Suppliers, Group functions and MAG IT; building lasting and strategic relationships across all parties for the betterment of MAG
•    Contribute to the development of the IT Project Framework by supporting the development of artefacts and templates relevant to the BA role as well as supporting the implementation of projects and business change initiatives. 


Required Skills:
•    Excellent Business Analysis experience, ideally demonstrating experience of working on projects that combine systems, process and data changes
•    Demonstrable track record of delivery in complex, commercially driven environments
•    Ability to elicit requirements via multiple means and to determine their appropriateness to given situation and audience 
•    Understand the development lifecycle in terms of stages, principles and the changing responsibilities of a Business Analyst
•    Can work effectively at pace across both agile and waterfall methodologies
•    Understand Business Implementation principles and issues relating to legacy systems; including analytical ability to assess legacy system documentation/details to impact high profile changes
•    Understand principles of testing phases in different project environments and the link to legacy and remediation requirements documentation
•    Significant experience of Business / Benefit Case development – including identification, quantification as well as supporting delivery and realisation of business benefits
•    Experience modelling of business processes
•    Aptitude for solving unstructured problems and decision making
•    Strong oral, written and presentation skills – ability to explain complexity easily to a non-technical stakeholder group
•    Flexibility to identify and apply an approach to analysis which suits the nature of the project
•    Ability to pull data from various sources and to design, construct and execute complex analyses to come up with data, report and proposals that support solving business problems
•    Ability to manage more than one complex project in parallel; with proven task management skills
•    Attention to detail
•    Leadership qualities and strong collaboration skills
