The role

This role is a permanent position within MAG reporting to the Head of Data Protection and Privacy. The primary purpose of the role is to lead and coordinate the organisation’s compliance with UK data protection and privacy laws, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018), and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), as well as relevant international privacy regulations (such as the EU GDPR, California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other global frameworks).
The Data Protection Manager role will maintain and monitor data protection and privacy compliance in accordance with MAG’s policies and procedures and to identify and lead on enhancements to MAG’s Data Protection and Privacy Strategy demonstrating continuous improvement and best practice.

 

 

What will make you successful in the role?

You’ll have 5+ years’ experience in a data protection or compliance role, with a robust understanding of the core elements of data protection law/regulation, alongside information security risk management processes, frameworks and procedures especially ISO27001 and ISO27701. You’ll hold (or be studying for) a recognised privacy qualification such as CIPM CIPP/E or CIPT. You’ll have strong analytical and problem resolution skills, exceptional business judgment, with the ability to think strategically and give practical advice by balancing business needs with legal risks. You’ll be an effective communicator able to articulate the importance of customer and employee privacy and rights, whilst being comfortable promoting data protection up and down the management chain, including to audiences who have varying levels of familiarity with the topic.
