The Role:

 

You will be working within the Development Management team at MAG property to deliver development opportunities with key focus on MAG Group and our joint venture partner portfolios.

 

Focus will be on Project Delivery; ensuring that projects are delivered on time and budget and within governance guidelines. You will also be representing MAG in the marketplace to stimulate business development opportunities by building relationships with key contacts and wider development stakeholders.

 

Crucially, you will not only be supporting with delivery of development across MAG’s existing property portfolio at Manchester, East Midlands and London Stansted Airport, but also upon new development sites. These are; Stansted Northside with circa 2 million square feet of big box logistics and industrial development and Airport City Manchester’s 5 million square feet of commercial, hotel, advanced manufacturing and spin off F&B and leisure development opportunities over the next 5 years+.

 

Typical responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

  • Working alongside the incumbent development management team, you will assume responsibility for the achievement of development project milestones throughout the process, including securing planning and other statutory consents required by the airport, finance, lettings and asset disposals and long-term estate management arrangements for all new developments.
  • Be confident with responsibility for the successful design and delivery of development schemes particularly in the logistics & industrial building sector but also commercial office/ retail / leisure and mixed-use sectors
  • Work collaboratively with the MAG property team to evaluate development sites, conduct research, and present the information to allow informed decisions to be made by the Group Property Director, MAG Board and JV partners with supporting development appraisals to ensure new development opportunities and/or land acquisitions are viable and deliverable.
  • Working alongside the Development Management team, take responsibility for ensuring that all legal agreements attendant to a project are complete and accurate and properly reflect the Company's understanding of the transaction/risk profile. There will be significant interaction with internal and external legal teams.
  • Report and communicate the activities and progression of relevant projects in accordance with MAG Company and JV partner timetables, providing detailed reports as requested for forecasts, budgets, board papers, etc.
  • Manage key internal relationships with senior level counterparts and in external organisations that need to be engaged with – such as public bodies, Local Authorities, JV partners, occupiers, planners, consultants etc.
  • Provide property support to other parts of the business in bidding for new opportunities through processes such as OJEU and other similar public procurement methods in the UK and potentially overseas.

 

 

You:

 

Educated to degree level you must have extensive experience within a Property/ Construction/ Project management related discipline with demonstrable ability to construct and lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver large complex developments and supporting utilities infrastructure on potentially difficult sites.

 

Other skills and experience include:

 

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills with a customer focused approach and strong entrepreneurial flair and commercial acumen.
  • Be commercially aware and capable of setting and managing budgets/forecasts and be able to close opportunities to an agreed programme with an understanding of property contracts and feasibility studies and development appraisals upon Argus or Circle development software.
  • Good process management and development skills with ability to brief and manage external consultants/ LA’s/ other External Stakeholders
  • Have excellent communication skills and high-level presentation skills, with the ability to challenge constructively.
  • Proven track record in the logistics/industrial and commercial property development sector. (Sector specific job experience and experience within a development or project management role)
  • Candidate will be able to work flexibly and can be based at any of our three UK airports. Candidate will but comfortable to travel for work across the UK and will be required to come to Manchester weekly with potential overnight stays away from home
