The role
Reporting to the People Partner, the ER Specialist – Investigator will lead investigations into a wide range of employment-related complaints and conduct matters. You’ll ensure all cases are handled in a timely manner and they are thorough, objective, and in line with legal and policy requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
· Conducting detailed investigations, including gathering evidence, taking statements, and producing high-quality investigation reports detailing the outcome
· Managing highly complex and sensitive employee relations cases requiring an extensive knowledge of relevant employment legislation and current HR best practice
· Monitoring and reviewing suspensions across the airport to ensure fairness, consistency and regular review with managers
· Supporting managers with complex grievance-related fact-finding, ensuring they are completed promptly and fulfilling our obligations of completing a reasonable investigation
· Identifying learnings from investigations to improve the process and build management capability
What will make you successful in the role?
The successful candidate will hold, or be working towards, a CIPD Level 7 qualification (or equivalent), demonstrating advanced expertise in HR and employment law. You will have substantial experience working in a unionised environment, with a proven track record of managing complex and sensitive employee relations matters. A thorough and up-to-date understanding of UK employment legislation, case law, and ACAS codes of practice is essential. You will be highly skilled in conducting impartial, timely, and comprehensive investigations, producing high-quality reports with clear findings and actionable recommendations that stand up to internal and external scrutiny. Strong organisational skills, the ability to manage a demanding caseload, and exceptional communication and influencing abilities are key to success in this role. Although this role is primarily office working hours, some flexibility will be required to ensure investigations are completed in a timely manner accommodating witnesses availability due to shift patterns.
