The Role

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager with a solid Front-end background to join our growing technology team and play a key part in leading our software engineering function. This is a hands off position, focusing on team leadership.

You’ll line-manage a team of engineers, working closely with our Tech Leads and Product teams to ensure we deliver high-quality, scalable, and reliable software solutions. Acting as the “glue” between technology and product, you’ll maintain a clear view of what our development pods are working on, identifying opportunities for collaboration and resolving any delivery or communication challenges along the way.

You’ll also champion engineering excellence - driving best practices, supporting new initiatives, and fostering a culture where everyone’s views are welcomed and valued.

Working hand-in-hand with the Head of Technology, you’ll help shape how we deliver software at scale, living by our principle of “extend, not modify.”

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software engineers, supporting growth, performance, and career progression.
  • Partner with Tech Leads to provide technical guidance and ensure high standards of delivery.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and Operations teams to plan, coordinate, and track releases for smooth deployments.
  • Promote strong engineering processes and standards that drive quality, maintainability, and scalability.
  • Support roadmap planning by helping estimate effort, assess technical feasibility, and highlight risks.
  • Encourage collaboration across pods, resolving blockers and improving cross-team communication.
  • Drive new initiatives and best practices alongside the Head of Technology, with a focus on sustainable system evolution.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, curiosity, and continuous improvement across the engineering organisation

About You

You’re a people-focused engineering leader who brings both technical credibility and a passion for building high-performing teams. You are:

  • An experienced people manager with a background in software engineering or technical leadership.
  • Skilled in mentoring engineers, guiding career growth, and creating psychologically safe, collaborative teams.
  • Comfortable engaging with architecture and product conversations - balancing technical integrity with delivery needs.
  • Experienced in Agile delivery, release planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Passionate about continuous improvement, maintainability, and leading by example.
  • An excellent communicator who enjoys working across teams to make complex things simple and achievable.

The Perks

  • 25 Days Holiday, increasing 1 day per year with service (up to 28)
  • Option to buy up to 10 additional days’ annual leave, plus 4 flexible bank holidays
  • 10% Company Pension
  • Annual Bonus Scheme
  • On-Site Gym
  • MediCash Scheme
  • Flexible Benefits & Discounts - including up to 50% off CAVU products (Escape Lounges, Airport Parking, etc.)
  • Rail and retail discounts
  • 2 paid volunteering days per year
  • Access to our internal events calendar including regular health, wellbeing, and ID&E activities
  • Development opportunities including mentoring and learning grants
  • Enhanced parental leave (T&Cs apply)

The Interview Process

  1. Recruiter screen
  2. Teams call with the Head of Engineering
  3. Take-home activity or scenario discussion
  4. Final stage interview
