The Role:

Provide finance business partner support to the Manchester Transformation Programme Team whilst providing decision making support through first class financial information reporting, analysis and insight that links financial reports to business strategies and maintaining a strong system of financial controls.

 

  • MAN TP Phase 2 project and process set up including development and maintenance of Programme Board Governance processes, Supplier Payment Approval Process,  Valuation and Accruals Process

 

  • Facilitate the preparation, production of annual budgets, regular reforecasts and weekly estimates in line with and to maintain a robust framework of financial control 

 

  • In conjunction with the Finance & Accounting team, develop and deliver the monthly and periodic accounting and management information, timeliness of financial reporting within prescribed deadlines.

 

  • Deliver the monthly financial results clearly setting out the drivers behind the month’s numbers and highlighting any overspend risks which need to be mitigated to Programme Leads.

 

  • Working closely with the MAN TP leads to develop a complete understanding of underlying Programme performance and ensure monthly results for MAN TP show a true reflection of the month’s performance

 

  • Working with the capital delivery team (both MAG employees and external support consultants) to produce detailed project cost reports that track both actual and forecast spend.

 

  • Identification and implementation of process improvements, working with Programme staff and MAG Finance to develop a best in class approach.

 

  • Work with the MAN TP Finance Director, other MAG Finance Business Partners and the Manchester Finance Director on ad hoc projects as required.

 

  • Become a key member of the Finance team, contributing to the achievement of the goals of MAG and the Finance department

 

  • With a focus on the operating costs work streams, you will support the MAN-TP Team in establishing and providing the business and stakeholders with accurate, timely, robust and informative management information. Provide insight and advice on improving performance against key KPIs.

About You:

  • Proven track record in analytical skills, attention to detail.
  • Considerable experience in reporting, financial analysis, management accounting and system dashboard skills
  • Demonstrable interpersonal and communication skills and a passion for building successful relationship with the project team
  • Experience of thinking around problems, identifying and then implementing solutions.
  • Ability and flexibility to plan, organise and prioritise workloads to achieve pre-determined deadlines with ad hoc requests (project/tactical support, attending external events etc)
  • Strong IT system orientation including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills and experience of financial modeling. Knowledge of SAP will be beneficial.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and adjust plans to meet changing needs and requirement
  • Ability to consolidate and present financial information in differing formats and to be able to translate large amounts of data into useful information and actionable conclusions using local business knowledge where appropriate.

Professional Qualifications

Professional accounting qualification e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent qualification with minimum 4 years PQE
