The role

We’re looking for a Finance Manager to play a pivotal role in leading the monthly close of management accounts and ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and robustness of financial reporting across the Group.

You will own and distribute the month‑end timetable, oversee transaction recording, work closely with the business during reviews, and deliver reporting across Divisional P&Ls and Balance Sheets with high‑quality commentary.

You will also lead MAG’s external audit process including half‑year, interim, controls testing, walkthroughs and full‑year audit ensuring a clean, well‑managed process free of surprises.

A key part of your role is to maintain consistent, reliable service delivery across a large team with varied experience levels, requiring strong coaching, mentoring and leadership.

What will make you successful in the role?

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Significant experience closing monthly management accounts for multiple and geographically dispersed business units
  • Strong experience with SAP (able to support technical queries and retrieval of information for auditors)
  • Proven line‑management experience
  • A track record of continual improvement, transformation and developing financial processes
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
  • Ability to prioritise effectively, manage workload and drive optimisation across processes
  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, and the ability to learn new systems

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the monthly close, ensuring all reporting obligations are met
  • Ensure compliance with MAG’s management and statutory reporting requirements
  • Participate in and help plan all audit activities, ensuring all actions are completed to timescales
  • Drive cultural and performance improvements across Finance
  • Support development and implementation of finance policies and procedures
  • Ensure audit recommendations (internal and external) are actioned
  • Mentor and develop your team, providing structure and guidance
  • Contribute to SLA and KPI development
  • Improve financial processes, procedures, and internal controls to support future growth
