The role

A career as an Airport Firefighter is unique, combining specialist skills, teamwork, and the responsibility of keeping millions of passengers and visitors safe every year. It’s challenging, rewarding, and offers the chance to be part of an exceptional team. 

As an operational firefighter you’ll deal with emergency situations in accordance with regulations and procedures and undertake firefighting duties as deemed necessary to save lives and protect the environment and property. You’ll be responsible for personal and team compliance with company Health and Safety policies, ensuring safe working practices are followed to minimise risk to self, work colleagues, customers and airport staff.


You’ll maintain effective working relationships with internal and external bodies by applying the agreed policies, procedures and working practices when attending emergency incident and maintain the required level of professional competence to uphold regulatory compliance, whilst maintaining equipment and resources for operational readiness to specified standards to meet internal and external audit requirements. 

What will make you successful in the role?

The successful candidate will have ability to work without supervision while delivering work in agreed timescales, strong communications skills and great attention to detail.
You will have the ability to remain calm under physical and mental pressure when dealing with difficult and stressful life-threatening situations, and work in confined spaces and at height.

You’ll demonstrate openness to change and actively support new ways of working, whilst working effectively with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve shared goals and showing commitment to maintaining and promoting a safe working environment. You’ll take pride in your own appearance and consistently project a professional image in all situations.


You must also meet the below minimum requirements: 

  • Must be 18 Years old or over
  • Hold a valid full, clean UK driving licence
  • Must pass entry and physical fitness assessment, which includes tests for vertigo and claustrophobia
  • Must pass Aviation Security disclosure and background checks
