The role:

 

The Future Airspace Programme is part of a national programme of change to remove aircraft reliance on ground-based navigation aids, to facilitate a transition to satellite guidance. This programme requires the re-design of flight paths at all MAG airports, whilst ensuring that the design process takes full account of consultations with various stakeholders.

 

Reporting to the Head of Airspace, the design lead will be a subject matter expert on air traffic design issues and be able to contribute to the successful delivery of the Future Airspace project. You will act as a representative of MAG at industry working groups and be able to coordinate and collaborate with other aviation and industry stakeholders to ensure MAG’s airspace designs are informed by and take account of regional and national requirements.

 

You will also be responsible for commissioning and overseeing airspace design work, scrutinising design proposals from external advisers and providing quality assurance. You will also provide comprehensive technical advice and leadership to internal and external stakeholders to support the consultation process.

 

What will make you successful in the role?

 

You will be an established leader with previous experience in the aviation industry and possess an excellent working knowledge of air traffic control and airspace design. You should be able to demonstrate your ability to create and sustain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including the CAA. You will be a credible, respected, and authoritative communicator and be able to deal with conflict sensitively and confidently.
