With a number of significant Growth Programs underway, MAG is undertaking a radical transformation of our technology landscape, to ensure that our systems and data can best support the Organisation in to the future.  One of our strategic programs of work is developing a systems integration strategy to create a loosely coupled, modular, best-of-breed component architecture aligned with MAG’s strategic aims and growth plans.  This will allow greater flexibility in product selection and faster integration and deployment of new solutions and systems thereby delivering a continually improving service to passengers and partners at a lower cost to MAG.

 

The foundation of this transformation requires the implementation of an Integration Backbone, enabling an API-first approach for integration & development to allow operational data to be extracted from the AODB whilst reducing the pressure placed on it. This integration backbone will be enterprise-wide hybrid-cloud platform, catering for the integration requirements of MAG’s operational systems as well as B2B and B2C opportunities

 

Role:

 

The Lead DevOps Engineer role is to work within Data and Integration to support and improve our in-house developed platforms, systems and APIS within our latest technologies. It is also to own and maintain our DevOps toolsets, environments and processes like CI/CD for example, to build a world-class data and integration platform for the Group.  There will be an element to this role where you will be on-call.

 

Your goal will be to ensure that our technology and environments run smoothly and efficiently.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Install and configure software and hardware on multiple Operating Systems including Linux.
  • Own the configuration of various environments and DevOps tooling
  • Manage network servers and technology tools
  • Install and maintain secure certificates
  • Set up accounts and workstations for back-office platforms.
  • Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
  • Troubleshoot issues and outages
  • Ensure security through access controls, backups and firewalls
  • Upgrade systems with new releases and models
  • Develop expertise to train staff on new technologies
  • Build an internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals and IT policies

 

You:

 

  • We are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to maintain, upgrade and manage our software and various environments either on premises or in the cloud.
  • Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role. You should be able to diagnose and resolve problems quickly. You should also have the patience to communicate with a variety of interdisciplinary teams and users and provide coaching and support to less experienced System Administrators and Engineers.
  • Proven minimum 5+ years’ experience in System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role would be preferable.
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN) and patch management
  • Knowledge of system security (e.g. intrusion detection systems) and data backup/recovery
  • Ability to create scripts in Python, Perl or other language
  • Experience of Data/Analytics platforms like Elastic or Splunk
  • Experience of Cloud operations and available tooling like Terraform for example
  • Experience of CI/CD platforms like gitlab or Jenkins
  • Familiarity with various operating systems and platforms
  • Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA)) is a plus
