The Role:


This role is directly aligned with MAGO’s driving ethos; to create build and deploy systems quickly in a truly agile fashion using quality data and feedback. Sat within one of our four squads, you will be working collaboratively within your multi-discipline team, and across other MAGO teams to drive product and platform development. With a focus on customer experience excellence, and distribution, we expect that you will make an immediate impact as we continue to develop our class leading customer platforms. Our Dev teams follow agile principles and are looking for someone that is comfortable working that way: contributing to stand-ups & retros, with a collaborative mind-set.




We know that you’ve probably spent most of 2020 n working from home quite happily and productively, and we understand that (whilst we have amazing modern offices at Manchester Airport) the need to come into an office is, well, a bit old fashioned. Therefore, we also welcome candidates to apply who wish to work remotely


You will have a good knowledge of .NET Core with proven experience delivering highly resilient, scalable solutions. We like serverless here and use AWS services like: Lambda, API Gateway, Dynamo, EC2. A robust API to support these channels is key, and experience with solution like GraphQL is going to be useful. Experience using AWS would be great, but it is certainly not required. what is important, is a good knowledge in using Cloud Platforms, be that Azure/ GCP etc. We will even support you to gain your AWS Certification.


Essential skills and experience

  • Good C#/.NET core experience
  • Good knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI
  • Experience of web based technologies such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML
  • Knowledge and experience of working with an ORM (e.g. NPoco, Entity Framework)
  • Good understanding of OOP, clean coding practices, SOLID principles
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills
  • Keen appetite for self-development and continuous improvement


Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience working with cloud technologies – preferably AWS but others is still useful.
  • Working in a continuous integration/deployment pipelines
  • Working with TDD/BDD patterns
  • Developing automated UI tests (Selenium, Appium, calabash etc.)
  • Web Performance testing/optimisation
  • Node.js
