The role

You’ll work collaboratively with the project delivery teams to apply the controls, governance and standards in co-ordination of successful deliver the portfolio’s business outcomes to schedule and budget. You’ll provide early visibility of risks, issues and slippages to allow for any required proactive mitigation. You will support several projects simultaneously across different areas of Technology, with 2 portfolios that have between 80 and 100 active projects between them and annual budget exceeding £30m. You’ll have direct influence on approximately 10 project managers to complete assurance activities on time and to a high-quality level saving substantial time and effort through rework. 

What will make you successful in the role?

You’ll have at least 3 years’ experience of working effectively in a PMO function, working with project management methodologies (Prince 2/MSP). You’ll be highly organised, with the ability to manage several tasks and deadlines at any one time, with an advanced working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as a solid understanding of financial terminology and experience of working with financial systems (SAP). You’ll have excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to summarise large amounts of delivery information into a concise update. A solid understanding of analysing large sets of project information and providing insights and recommendations. is also key to this role. You’ll have the confidence to form an opinion on project health and to get the supporting facts and feel comfortable challenging project managers when they don’t meet target dates or quality standards.
