The role: 

 

In this role you will support the delivery of the MAG Public Affairs strategy and help to increase the levels of engagement and influence with stakeholders across Manchester Airport’s catchment area of the North, Wales and Scotland.  You will assist the Director of Corporate Affairs on day-to-day stakeholder engagement and public affairs activity, as well as providing support on key projects and workstreams, such as securing better surface access to the airport, promoting Manchester Airport’s role as the UK’s global gateway in the North, and supporting the airport’s growth ambitions within the context of the sustainability agenda.

 

Accountabilities 

 

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders in the fields of politics, business and local government.
  • Ensure these are well briefed on Manchester Airport/MAG priorities and positive advocate on the business's behalf to support our influencing agenda 
  • Develop and maintain knowledge on policy areas of importance and the airport’s policies and positions relating to these. Provide targeted internal and external briefings on these issues. 
  • Ensure senior leaders are abreast of key policy developments and their relevance to Manchester Airport and MAG 
  • Organise activities and events with stakeholders in line with agreed objectives 

 

To be successful in this role, you will: 

 

  • Posses the relevant experience in a political, public affairs or external relations environment 
  • Hold excellent relationship building and communication skills, being confident in engaging with stakeholders at all levels and building relationships 
  • Have strong written skills and excellent information monitoring/gathering and analysis skills 
  • Be confident working to tight deadlines and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
